Effect of Eight Weeks Aerobic and Combined Training on Serum Levels of Sirtuin 1 and PGC-1α in Coronary Artery Bypass Graft Patients
Authors
Abstract:
ABSTRACT Background and objectives: Sirtuin-1 (SIRT1) is a conserved a NAD+-dependent protein deacetylase essential for cellular metabolism and defence against oxidative stress and endothelial dysfunction. This study aimed to compare effects of 8 weeks of aerobic and combined training on serum level of SIRT1 and PGC1-α in coronary artery bypass graft patients. Methods: In this semi-experimental study, 45 non-active men (mean age 47.4 ± 3.3 years) who had undergone coronary artery bypass graft surgery were randomly divided into three groups: aerobic training, combined resistance and aerobic training and control. Trainings were performed at 80% of maximum heart rate, three sessions a week for 8 weeks. Blood samples were collected 24 hours before the first exercise session and 48 hours after the last training session. T-test and one-way analysis of variance were used for assessment of within-group and between-group differences, respectively. P-values less than 0.05 were considered as statistically significant. Results: The 8-week aerobic and combined training increased serum levels of SIRT1 and PGC-1α compared with the control group, and significantly decreased the weight of subjects (p=0.001). There was no significant difference in serum levels of SIRT1 and PGC-1α between the two training groups (P≥0.05). Conclusion: Both combined and aerobic training significantly improve the SIRT1 and PGC-1α levels in coronary artery bypass graft patients. The Effect of Combined Training on ABCG5 and ABCG8 in Coronary Artery Bypass Graft Patients
Aims Coronary heart disease is one of the leading causes of mortality in modern societies. The disease is associated with the lack of physical activity and the expression of some genes involved in blood cholesterol transportation. Adenosine triphosphate (ATP)-binding cassette transporters G5/G8) ABCG5 and ABCG8) is the expression of adenosine triphosphate-dependent box protein genes 5 and 8, a ...
full textThe effect of eight weeks of combined training on the serum macrophages phenotype of cardiac patients after coronary bypass surgery
Introduction: Cardiovascular disease, including atherosclerosis, has an inflammatory background on a molecular scale. In the immune system, various factors activate macrophages, which ultimately lead to various macrophage activities in inflammatory and non-inflammatory conditions. The aim of the present study was to investigate the effect of eight weeks of combined training on serum macrophage ...
full textEffects of eight weeks of TRX training on serum levels of PGC-1α and citrate synthase in overweight women
Background: TRX training is a new training method that has beneficial effects on improving balance and strength. However, the role of these types of training on the factors associated with function and mitochondrial biogenesis is not understood. Therefore, the purpose of present study was to determine the effect of eight weeks of TRX training on serum levels of Peroxisome proliferator-activated...
full textEffects of Eight Weeks of Cardiac Rehabilitation Training on Serum Levels of Sirtuin1 and Functional Capacity of Post- Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting Patients
ABSTRACT Background and Objectives: Cardiac rehabilitation improves functional capacity of post-coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) patients. Therefore, the aim of this study was to evaluate effects of eight weeks of cardiac rehabilitation on serum levels of sirutin1 (SIRT1) and functional capacity of post-CABG patients. Methods: Forty-five non-active men (mean ag...
full textEffect of Eight Weeks of Aerobic Progressive Training with Capsaicin on Changes in PGC-1α and UPC-1 Expression in Visceral Adipose Tissue of Obese Rats With Diet
Objective: Decreased physical activity coupled with increased High‐Fat Diet (HFD) intake prompts obesity. Current research suggests that changing White Adipose Tissue (WAT) to brown promotes energy expenditure to counter obesity. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of aerobic Progressive training and Capsaicin (Cap) on Peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor gamma coacti...
full textThe Effect of Eight Weeks of Aquatic Aerobic Training on ABCA1 and ABCG1 Genes Expression in the Blood Mononuclear Cells in Women After Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting
Background: The aim of this research was to investigate the effect of aquatic aerobic training on regulatory factors related to Reverse Cholesterol Transport in women after coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG). Methods: 24 middle-aged women were studied after coronary artery bypass grafting (12 were in control group and 12 in aquatic aerobic training group)....
